Desert brewup

Brew-up! Brew-up!
Stop and dig some sand.
Fill up half a petrol tin
And sprinkle in some spirit
From your can.
Take another petrol tin,
Tip some water in it,
Strike a match and light your fire
And in another minute
You can make a cup of tea
For all your crew to drink.

Thus did half-a-million men
Make their daily brew,
From Daba back to Alamein,
From Fuka to Matruh,
In the good old days,
In the good old ways
All we Desert Rats knew.
